Event
A site visit to explore Net Zero opportunities in Sheffield including a visit to their proposed Net Zero Neighbourhoods.
You are invited to attend this upcoming 3Ci Site Visit with Sheffield City Council to take in their Net Zero investment opportunities and key sustainability achievements in the city, including insights from the Leader, Cllr Tom Hunt and Chief Executive, Kate Josephs CB.
The site visit will begin at Sheffield Town Hall to set the scene with a high-level discussion on the city’s net zero investment potential.
We will then travel to Gleadless Valley, an area which was featured in 3Ci’s Net Zero Neighbourhood prospectus launched at COP28. Gleadless Valley is a housing estate in the south of Sheffield and is marked by a mix of residential and commercial occupancy as well as green and community spaces.
The Gleadless Valley Masterplan was published in 2022, setting out a holistic vision for the Valley to ensure it remains a great place to live and to grow. The Council is currently working on translating the masterplan into tangible projects and will soon be seeking external funding to deliver its ambitions for the neighbourhood. The Council already has over £40M of funding identified for Gleadless Valley through its Housing Revenue Account and is seeking to align a range of other council funding streams to support the regeneration programme. In line with the city’s goal to be Net Zero by 2030, the emerging projects have a strong emphasis on sustainability including opportunities for retrofit, low carbon heating and local energy generation.
Following Gleadless Valley, we will visit Moorfoot City Centre Catalyst Site, a priority neighbourhood for higher density new housing, commercial and other uses, envisioned as a distinctive urban development offering contemporary living close to Sheffield’s retail core, with plans for a new urban square and 2,180 new homes across a variety of tenures.
Finally, we will head to Mott Macdonald’s offices for a networking lunch, and for discussions on Housing, Transport, and Climate. There will be opportunities to discuss projects with senior Sheffield Council colleagues.
This site visit is for private sector investors to explore Net Zero investment opportunities in the region.
