3Ci North East and Yorkshire Regional Investment Forum

3Ci – Cities Commission for Climate Investment – is a partnership founded by Connected Places Catapult, Core Cities UK, and London Councils, and has since been expanded to include the Scottish Cities Alliance and Key Cities. Collectively, this is a coalition of over 40 of the UK’s largest cities working together with the wider local government sector and the M10 mayoral group to develop innovative approaches to securing private investment into place-based Net Zero delivery.

It is actively supported by HM Government, including HM Treasury and the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero as well as Innovate UK, the Local Government Association (LGA), the UK Infrastructure Bank (UKIB), and an increasing number of major businesses across finance, investment, built environment, and engineering sectors.

Our aim is to ensure that urban investment plays a critical role in delivering the UK’s ambitious net zero commitment, city by city and neighbourhood by neighbourhood.

This event is delivered in collaboration and partnership with West Yorkshire Combined Authority, South Yorkshire Combined Authority, North East and Yorkshire Net Zero Hub, North of Tyne Combined Authority, and the City of London.

These projects are at different stages of maturity, ranging from early-stage proposals to more developed and advanced initiatives. The aim of the presentations is to share and workshop emerging new financial models, and to stimulate a broader discussion of the gaps, barriers, and opportunities for funding innovation for Local Net Zero.

Investors invited to join small panels at each workshop will respond directly to the presentations, giving advice and strategic input on how local authorities can shape the next stage of their work to progress and scale investable models. Through this we hope to encourage wider dialogue on the potential for new blended finance models to accelerate Net Zero transformation.
